Ginger Brooks Takahashi will deliver the first of a series of 2026-27 visiting artist lectures hosted by the WVU School of Art and Design on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m. in the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center.
A West Viriginia native, Takahashi is now a transdisciplinary artist and educator based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her performance, installation, and site responsive works examine our relationships to the mediums that connect us. These public projects are platforms for intimate interaction and an extension of feminist and queer praxis. Her work is included in the 59th annual “Carnegie International” exhibition at the Carnegie Museum of Art, the world's longest running contemporary international art exhibit.
“We are delighted to welcome Ginger to campus for a visiting artist lecture,” said Dylan Collins, associate professor of Sculpture and visiting artist lecture coordinator. “Our hope is that Ginger’s transdisciplinary artwork in performance, installation, and site responsive approaches will inspire our students as they kick off a successful fall semester.”
Takahashi will give her lecture at 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
