Community Steel Drum

For Ages 13+

This class and ensemble focuses on the music and culture of Trinidad through the playing of steel pan. This experiential ensemble will expose students to the steel pan (an instrument that originated in the Caribbean), the playing style and technique of the instruments, and musical styles associated with Trinidad and Tobago. No prior musical experience is required for this ensemble.

Learning Outcomes

  • Exposure to the indigenous music culture of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Demonstration of playing technique on the various steel pans in the ensemble
  • Ability to play in the different styles of Trinidad and Toboggan music
  • Understanding of the music culture, its history, and its role in society

A class is usually cancelled when registration is less than five (5) participants. In case of cancellation of the class, all students already enrolled will be notified immediately. Submit your registration form as soon as possible to ensure your spot. We will reach out to you to process payment closer to the first day of the group class.
