WVU Orchestras bring together the university and Morgantown communities through orchestral music. The WVU Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra serve students from across campus who share a passion for making music together.
Course Number: MUSC 303 (1-2 credits)
Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thursday (3:00 pm - 5:15 pm)
The WVU Symphony Orchestra is comprised of approximately 60 of the finest string, wind, and percussion students at West Virginia University. Performing literature of the highest caliber, the Symphony Orchestra presents three concerts each semester at local, regional, and national venues. Auditions are required for membership and are held on the days leading to the beginning of each semester. Auditions are open to any WVU student regardless of major.

Rehearsals: Wednesday (5:00 pm - 7:00 pm)
The WVU String Orchestra is a non-auditioned ensemble designed to offer performance opportunities for students who wish to play their string instrument in an ensemble setting. Open to all students who have several years of experience playing the violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Comprised of both music majors and non-music majors, the String Orchestra presents one concert each semester.
