Through the WVU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, you can network with PR students and professionals, learn more about the PR industry and get a leg up on a career in public relations.
In 1967, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) was founded by its parent organization, PRSA. On April 4 of the following year, the West Virginia University Chapter of PRSSA was established along with eight other schools that met the chapter requirements. With the addition of five schools that received their charters later that year, the WVU Chapter is proud to be one of the 13 founding Chapters of PRSSA.
Today, the WVU PRSSA is a strong, active chapter that strives each year to provide our members with opportunities to expand their education beyond the classroom, broaden their network of professional PR practitioners, and launch their career by providing avenues for students to build and grow their professional experience before entering the workforce. As PRSSA National states, “[PRSSA] is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications,” and it is our goal, at WVU, to make sure our efforts are valuable and beneficial to our members and their futures.
WVU PRSSA focuses on offering its members the best possible opportunities in the following areas:
- Professional development
- Networking
- Internships
- Scholarships
- Community service projects
- Campaign competitions
