Alexis de Coning
Dr. Alexis de Coning, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at West Virginia Wesleyan College, teaches courses in professional speaking, persuasion, social media and society, and artificial intelligence. Her recent publication includes an encyclopedia entry on The Manosphere in The De Gruyter Handbook of Digital Cultures (2025).
Dr. de Coning's research explores the intersections of media, gender, and digital culture. Her current projects investigate time management, productivity, and academic labor, as well as archival work on the men's rights movement. In addition to her teaching and scholarship, Dr. de Coning serves as the Coordinator of the Legal Studies minor and Dean of the Governor's School for the Arts 2026, where she leads a dynamic three-week residency program that supports emerging artists from across West Virginia.
