Alan Hankers is an award-winning composer, sound designer, and pianist who writes music for television, film, video games, and concert halls.

Driven by a passion for sonic storytelling and collaboration, Alan has written music and sound design for clients such as Google, Lincoln Automotive, and others. His scores have won awards and been featured at the Idyllwild International Film Festival, LA Independent Shorts Awards, Sweden Film Awards, and others. Recent projects include the animated short film, 'Blue' [Preymaker in collaboration with Epic Games, dr. Robert Petrie], and a video game that will be announced in 2023.

His concert music has been performed throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Upcoming performances include a premiere by the Deka String Quartet at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival and two new premieres by the Danish new music choir and string ensemble, Ensemble Edge.

As a pianist/keyboardist, Alan has toured North America with several bands and has been featured in Metal Hammer Magazine (UK) and Prog Magazine. He currently plays with the American progressive metal band JIA and works as a session musician with various bands and artists. 

Alan earned his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in 2021 and previously taught at Montclair State University. He is the Founder and CEO of Ethos Audio, a pre-market company focused on creating expressive virtual instrument libraries that use extended techniques.
