
Amy Simpson
Dr. Amy M. Simpson earned her DMA in Piano Performance from WVU and her MM from Carnegie Mellon University. Her recently published book, Music on Your Mind: What Musicians Need to Know to Play with Success, explains how our minds and bodies perform optimally when we use the best practices to promote motor-skill and long-term learning. Dr. Simpson actively gives presentations on neuromusic techniques in university settings and for professional musical organizations.
As a performer, Dr. Simpson regularly gives solo and chamber performances for Chatham University. She recently performed Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra in Pittsburgh. Currently, she is an Adjunct Instructor at WVU teaching Piano Literature, and an Instructor for both the WVU Community Music Program and the Carnegie Mellon University Preparatory School.
