Debanjan Das
Debanjan Das is an assistant professor in the Fashion, Dress and Merchandising department in the School of Design and Community Development. He earned his Doctorate from the University of Missouri in 2016, his Master of Science from the University of Missouri in 2013, and his Bachelor’s degree from National Institute of Fashion Technology, India in 2009, all with an emphasis on Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Management. Dr. Das specializes in teaching sourcing, supply chain, sustainability in fashion and fashion retailing. His research program explores the apparel industry from the social, economic and humane viewpoint. His research program investigates how the labor force participation of married women in the Indian apparel manufacturing industry impacts family development and women empowerment. He continues to conduct research on the human factor of the industry, social sustainability, small apparel business competitiveness and fashion industry labors.
