Gerald Habarth
Gerald Habarth holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Parsons School of Design. He teaches courses in electronic media and animation. Originally from Maryland, he spent most of the 1990s living in Santiago, Chile and traveled throughout much of South America. His work is characterized by a synthesis of painting, drawing, electronic media and the moving image, trying to find a meaningful tension between the handmade and the digitized. He has shown his work in numerous group and solo exhibits in both Chile and the US, including the Tampa Museum of Art and the Florida Film Festival. He is founder and director of the West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival and founder and lead faculty member for the School of Art and Design’s summer Space: Atacama study abroad course in Chile.
