Jenna Stewart
Jenna M. Stewart, MSJ, is Program Coordinator for the Public Interest Communication Research Laboratory (PIC Lab) within the Media Innovation Center in the Reed School of Media and Communications at West Virginia University. In this role, she works with faculty, staff, students, and community partners on communication projects that enhance community resilience, health, security, and human flourishing in West Virginia and beyond.
A proud alumna of WVU, Jenna graduated in 2025 from the Reed School of Media and Communications, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism majoring in Advertising and Public Relations, and her Master of Science in Journalism with an emphasis in Advocacy and Public Interest Communication. During her time as a student at WVU, Jenna worked as an undergraduate and graduate research assistant in the PIC Lab, where she realized her passion for public interest communications work in West Virginia. In the PIC Lab she had the experience of a lifetime working with community health professionals across the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, and ultimately she became the first in her family to earn an advanced professional degree. Now she is
thrilled to play a role in facilitating similar experiences for the next generation of students exploring the use of evidence-based strategic communication for community good.
In the PIC Lab, social and behavioral scientists and students work side-by-side with community partners to harness the power of science, strong communities, and strategic communication for positive social change. The PIC Lab, led by Dr. Julia Fraustino, is designated as a Patriotic Employer by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program.
As a native of Fairmont, WV, Jenna has always been immersed in the Mountaineer spirit and dreamed of attending WVU from a young age. Her biggest hope now is to serve her fellow West Virginians while living, working, and thriving right here at home.
