
Joshua Swiger
Joshua Swiger is a seasoned producer, engineer, performer, and music industry professional from Morgantown, West Virginia. He is the Director of the WVU Music Business and Industry Program. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Music Industry, both from West Virginia University.
At WVU Joshua teaches courses in Music Marketing, Artist Management, Record Management and Professional Development. He is the faculty lead for the WVU student record label. Mon Hills Records. Under his supervision the label has release more that 60 albums and singles and has more 1.5 million streams and growing.
With over 25 years of experience in the national and regional music industry, Joshua’s expertise spans record label management, recording engineering, and live event production. Since 1993, he has owned and operated Blues Alley Studios & Records, where he has collaborated with both regional and national artists including The Walt Disney Company, Steve Earle, The New Relics, The Argument, The Joseph Sisters, WVU, Huey Mac, and others.
As a record label owner and producer, Joshua has worked across multiple genres with a focus on country, rock, and Americana. His productions have earned national recognition, with artists charting on Billboard and Music Row (e.g., The New Relics – “Beautiful,” “Real Love” on Billboard; The Joseph Sisters – “Crazy in Love” on Music Row). His artists have been featured on syndicated radio, including Radio Disney Country, and in leading industry publications such as Billboard Online and Music Row Magazine.
Joshua is also an active figure in the live music scene. As Executive Producer with RMA Presents, he has produced concerts and festivals across WV, OH, PA, and VA, working with national and international touring acts such as Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Charles Wesley Godwin, The Zac Brown Band, The Oak Ridge Boys, Los Lobos, Smash Mouth, Chase Rice, Kathy Mattea, Sawyer Brown, Blackberry Smoke, Marcus King Band, and many more. He has also helped coordinate summer concert series for the City of Morgantown and the Fairmont County Commission.
In addition to his production work, Joshua is a performing bassist with the regional Americana band The New Relics, a group he has toured with since 2001.
He is an active voting member of the Country Music Association (CMA) and continues to mentor and support emerging artists in the region through his teaching and professional work.
