
Kyle Gray
Kyle T. Gray is an Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and director of the Mountaineer Chorus at West Virginia University. Dr. Gray spent the beginning of his career in Tampa, Florida, directing choirs at the secondary level. His choirs regularly performed in regional and district events and have been featured at state adjudication, state conferences, and performances around the Southeast. He enjoys working as a clinician for honor choirs, workshops, and professional conferences, as well as visiting classrooms in the local choral community. As a performer and conductor, he has had the privilege to perform with featured ensembles in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.
Dr. Gray’s research interests include motivation and self-regulated learning in the choral ensemble setting and modalities of professional development, such as the impact of digital media on music teacher professional development. He regularly presents at national and state conferences, including NCMEA, FMEA, NAfME, the SMTE Symposium, and the ACDA National Conference. His research has been published in both state and national journals.
He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Florida, a Master of Music Education from Florida State University, and a PhD in Music Education and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Choral Conducting from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
