Renee Wyatt
Renee teaches Music for the Elementary Music Major and facilitates a professional development course for state music educators. With Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education from WVU she has taught all aspects of music as a public school teacher for 34 years in the state of WV, though her love was elementary general music and elementary choir. She is also an adjunct professor in the music departments at Fairmont State University and WV Wesleyan. As an elementary music teacher, she has been a clinician for WV Department of Education for various programs including “Integrating the Arts into the Curriculum,” West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts, The Snowshoe Institute for the Arts, and the Center For Professional Development Summer Institute. Renee and a co-worker were published in the West Virginia English Journal, Spring 1997, for their work on integrating West Virginia children’s folk music and literature. She has been a Master Teacher for the West Virginia Department of Education Module III and Teacher Leadership Institute and was lead teacher for the Secondary General Music Teachers Conference. Renee was also a recipient of the WV Rural Net’s “Best Integrated Web” Lessons. Renee was Harrison County’s Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the 1997 West Virginia Teacher of the Year.
Renee has mentored many beginning teachers as a cooperating teacher for WVU, Fairmont State University, Glenville State and Wesleyan College. She has also served on the executive board for WV All-State Children’s Chorus and currently serves on the executive board for WVMEA as the state chairman for Music In Our Schools Month.
