Ryan Scoble is an award-winning actor, director, and choreographer. He currently serves as the Head of Musical Theatre and teaches Acting Fundamentals and all levels of the Musical Theatre coursework at WVU. As a director/choreographer, he has worked on such shows as Into The Woods, Ride The Cyclone, Bright Star, Annie, Edges, Dido & Aeneas, and Jekyll & Hyde. He also spent two years serving as the Managing Artistic Director of Gooseberry Park Players in Moorhead, MN where he directed and choreographed productions of Beauty and the Beast and The SpongeBob Musical and one year as the Casting Director and Associate Producer of the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre in Clinton, Iowa, where he directed and choreographed The Marvelous Wonderettes and Leading Ladies. Outside of his educational credits, Ryan also served as a resident director/choreographer for the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus for over four years.
As a performer, Ryan has appeared in four Off-Broadway shows in New York City:
Murder in the First (Bailiff),
Tall Pines Lodge (Booker),
Bitty Bear’s Matinee (Bitty Puppy), and
The Mask of Medusa (Mr. Sideon). Recent regional theatre credits include
a critically acclaimed performances as Dennis Dupree in
Rock of Ages, Buddy in
We Will Rock You, and Inspector Kemp in
Young Frankenstein at the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre, Marcellus Washburn
in
The Music Man at Porthouse Theatre, and Gibson in
Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play at Theatre B. Other regional credits include
productions at Weathervane Theatre, Act Up Theatre, The Arts Center of Cannon County,
and Murfreesboro Little Theatre. In addition to musicals and plays, Ryan has performed
in a number of concerts and cabarets including performances with the NY Philharmonic
at David Geffen Hall, Chita Rivera and Alan Cumming at Carnegie Hall, Demi Lovato
at the Barclays Center, The Broadway by the Years Chorus at prestigious The Town
Hall and Feinstein's/54 Below, as well as solo shows at The Metropolitan Room,
and The Duplex. Ryan is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association and recently
became a certified instructor of the Michael Chekhov Technique through the Great
Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium.
