Sandra Schwartz

An experienced higher education administrator, Dr. Sandra Schwartz currently serves as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Creative Arts and Media. In this capacity, she provides strategic leadership for the College’s comprehensive academic portfolio, steering curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment, catalog management, and accreditation compliance across state, regional, and national frameworks.

Dr. Schwartz serves as the College’s liaison to key University offices, aligning College initiatives and policies with the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, University Scheduling, the Office of Graduate Education and Life, etc. She oversees all faculty searches in the College and handles academic complaints, petitions, and appeals. Her administrative trajectory includes leadership appointments as Associate Dean of the College of Creative Arts, Interim Director of the School of Music, Associate Director and Director of Undergraduate Studies of the School of Music, and Area Coordinator for Music Education.

As Professor of Music Education, Schwartz taught undergraduate and graduate courses in music education, and she is actively involved with and presents sessions at NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music. Prior to joining the WVU music faculty in 2006, Dr. Schwartz earned a Ph.D. in Music Education from the Frost School of Music at University of Miami, and she taught high school in southwest FL. She also earned an M.M. in Choral Conducting and B.M. in Music Education from the University of Miami.
