Sandra Schwartz

Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

Sandra Schwartz is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Creative Arts and Media. In this role, she manages all aspects of the College’s academic portfolio, including curriculum and assessment. She also oversees all undergraduate and graduate catalog revisions, and she handles external reporting for state, regional, and national accreditors. Among the offices for which Associate Dean Schwartz is the College of Creative Arts and Media representative are the Office of the Provost, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Scheduling, and Office of Graduate Education and Life. 

Previously, she served in administrative roles as Associate Dean of the College of Creative Arts and Interim Director of the School of Music. For five years, she was Associate Director and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the School of Music.

Dr. Schwartz is Professor of Music Education, and has taught undergraduate courses such as Choral Methods, Voice Class, Vocal Pedagogy, and Introduction to Music Education. At the graduate level, she taught Foundations of Music Education, Psychology of Music, Advanced Choral Methods, and Introduction to Research in Music Education. She has presented papers and workshops at many state, regional, and national conferences, and she is actively involved with and presents sessions at NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music.

Prior to joining the WVU music faculty in 2006, Dr. Schwartz earned a Ph.D. in Music Education from the Frost School of Music at University of Miami and she taught high school in southwest FL. She also earned an M.M. in Choral Conducting and B.M. in Music Education from the University of Miami.
