Tessla Muir
Tessla Muir is
a UI-focused game engineer with professional experience with games like Fortnite.
With a strong background in UI programming and design, she specializes in
developing intuitive, responsive interfaces that enhance gameplay without
compromising performance or immersion.
Muir holds an M.S. in Game Design and Development from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where her thesis explored how emotional feedback through UI can be integrated into high-difficulty, immersive games such as souls-likes without breaking player immersion. She also holds a B.S. in Computer Science from West Virginia University.
Much of her UI/UX design experience stems from working on small, interdisciplinary teams, where she bridged the gap between design and engineering, taking on layout and interaction design responsibilities alongside implementation. She is passionate about crafting interfaces that not only function well but also support and elevate the overall player experience.
Muir is excited to return to WVU as an instructor and to help students navigate the intersection of code, design, and player psychology. Based in Rochester, NY, she continues to explore trends in UI/UX and interface systems in both commercial and academic contexts. More about her work can be found at www.tessla-muir.com.
