Kristian Thacker
Kristian Thacker is an artist, educator, and photographer from West Virginia and grew up in the Ohio River Valley. His work follows the toll of natural resource extraction in central Appalachia and its effects on the land and the people who live there. His recent interests are focused on the oil and gas industry’s rise in West Virginia during the 20th century including its return to prominence with the development of the Marcellus and Utica shale formations. His work has been featured in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Die Zeit, Le Nouvel Obs,The Wall Street Journal, TIME, Bloomberg Businessweek, NPR, and the Washington Post among others.
