Retired Network and Local Television Anchor

45-year broadcast news veteran Rick Jackson retired after 20 years at Ideastream Public Media in Cleveland. Prior to Ideastream, he anchored newscasts at two Cleveland TV stations, and in Wheeling, Memphis, Charlotte, and Philadelphia; plus four years anchoring at CBS News in New York. Rick has moderated countless programs and political debates, including the Ohio U.S. Senate race, and in four Cleveland mayoral campaigns. He has interviewed presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and both George Bushes; and hosted programs from national political nominating conventions in New Orleans (1988), Chicago (1996) and Cleveland (2016). Rick was nominated for more than 30 Emmy Awards, winning six, with multiple Communicator, Society of Professional Journalists, Cleveland Press Club, Parents’ Choice, and Associated Press awards for his work.  He was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Cleveland Press Club Hall of Fame in 2023.
