
Shelley Johnson
As WVU’s Interior Design Manager, Shelley Johnson is responsible for overseeing the design and transformation of campus spaces while ensuring alignment with the university’s branding and aesthetic standards. The manager coordinates with architects, contractors, suppliers, and various university departments to create welcoming, inspirational areas for students, faculty, staff, administrators and visitors to learn, work, collaborate and explore. Prior professional experiences include working in architecture, retail residential and commercial design firms. With 17 years in facilities design, Ms. Johnson has produced functional and timeless spaces across multiple campuses, overseeing the design process from concept through completion to deliver projects on time and within budget. This role requires an understanding of design principles, the unique needs of an academic institution and project management skills. The designer maintains knowledge of product ingenuity, sustainability practices, and accessibility guidelines. This knowledge along with the manager’s leadership and vision enhances the campus experience with dynamic and engaging environments.
