Community Programs

Morgantown Community Orchestra

Membership for the MCO is open to everyone from youth to non-music and music major collegiate students to adults and senior citizens throughout the greater-Morgantown community or other counties of the state.

ABC Do-Re-Mi Class

Suitable for tiny students ages 3-5 years old, this class is for preschool students and their guardians to participate and explore community music making.

Creativity Academy

The College of Creative Arts and Media is offering a series of weekday matinee performances, open to all grades and ages from public schools, private schools and homeschool groups. The performances provide an opportunity to enhance school curriculum and to expose students to the arts.

Visual Arts Summer Academies

Residential and day camp options open up the world of art for students K-12.

Summer Dance Teen Academy

This weeklong, in-residence dance program is geared toward dancers ages 12-18 interested in furthering their dance training. The faculty includes current WVU Dance Program instructors as well as guest artists. The program will offer dance technique classes, classes in wellness and conditioning and other movement related classes.

Community Music Program

The Community Music Program at West Virginia University aims to provide high-quality musical training to individuals of all ages and levels in Morgantown, WV, and the surrounding region. The program welcomes children, families, the amateur performer, enlightened listener, professional musician, young talent, and committed high-school students who wish to advance and master their craft.

Traditional Appalachian Guitar

Open to beginners of all ages and family members that wish to learn how to play music together. This class will get you ready to sit in jam sessions around town and at festivals that feature traditional Appalachian Old-Time music.

Woodwind Chamber Music

Under the direction of Ms.Dana Brink students who play flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, and their auxiliary instruments, will enhance their individual and ensemble performance skills and watch their connection to music become stronger through the repertoire preparation process.

Summer Harp Academy

The WVU Summer Harp Academy will be held July 10-15, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is directed by Christine Mazza, WVU's harp instructor. This harp day camp will include activities for beginner and intermediate harp students who own their own instruments.

Summer Choir Camp

Our Summer Choir Camp promises a wholesome musical experience of singing, playing, and forging new friendships. During this 5-day camp, your child will be exposed to the wonder of the choral world and learn how to use their voice in an environment that provides a sense of community and teamwork through practice and a final performance to celebrate.

Summer Dance Young Academy

This weeklong dance program is geared towards children ages 5-11 years old, with little to no previous dance experience. The program offers exquisite instruction by current students and alumni of the WVU Dance Program who have all been hand-picked specifically to work with your child.
