The Visual Arts Summer Academy provides a community-based art program designed for students in grades 8-12. The Academy introduces participants to the visual arts at the university level and helps them expand their artistic skills. Participants may choose from painting/drawing, printmaking, digital art and animation; photography, ceramics, interior architecture; and fashion workshops taught by WVU faculty.

This program is designed to encourage students to think about career pathways in art and design and to experience campus life at WVU. Under the supervision of faculty, students in grades 8-12 will participate in studio art workshops Monday through Friday. Supervised by counselors in WVU’s Art Education program, participants will reside in the Evansdale Residential Complex near the Canady Creative Arts Center. The academy culminates in an Art Exhibit of student work on Friday and an Ice Cream Social which is open to friends, families and teachers of participants.

Cost includes room and board, all meals, art supplies and bed linens.
