Media Portfolios

Your portfolio should demonstrate how your work moves, sounds, and engages.

Core Idea: Media portfolios focus on experience, storytelling, and technical execution. Unlike static portfolios, they must showcase time-based or interactive content.

Key Practices:

  • Highlight finished media work (reels, clips, projects)
  • Provide context for each piece
  • Keep content easy to access and quick to load
  • Design for user experience across devices

Include:

  • Demo reel (for video/animation)
  • Project descriptions (your role, tools, goals)
  • Links to full projects or external platforms
  • Resume / credits / collaborations

Ask yourself:

  • What role did you play in the project?
  • What skills are you demonstrating?
  • How does your work engage an audience?

Helpful Tips

  • Host your work on platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, or SoundCloud
  • Explore creative portfolios on ArtStation (for animation/game media)
  • Search for demo reel examples by role (editor, animator, filmmaker)
  • Embed work using Squarespace, Wix, or portfolio-specific builders
  • Review industry reels to understand pacing, length, and structure
