BFA Theatre Design and Technology Portfolio Requirements

Show us your talent in design, technology, and stage management.

The BFA in Design & Technology requires an interview to present your portfolio. It is a 5 to 10-minute presentation to share your passion for the arts and what being a theatre practitioner means to you.

Some examples of what to include in a portfolio are:

  • Photographs of productions you have worked on.
  • Any process photos of the development of the show in construction, painting, sewing, and props.
  • Any drawings, drafting, or renderings of your designs or ideas.
  • Examples of paperwork you have created whether it is a prompt book, lighting paperwork or plots, technical drafting.

Even if you don’t have these items, you can show examples of any drawings you have created for fun: do you have a passion for painting, have you built or helped build a construction or craft project?

We want to see your passion and enthusiasm no matter what media you choose.

Format: You can use several options to present your work to the faculty like a physical portfolio, create a digital slide presentation, or a combination of the two.

If you have any questions in creating your portfolio you can reach out to any of our design tech faculty.

We look forward to seeing your application, getting to know you during the interview process, and working with you at WVU!
