Cindy Hart
Cindy Hart was recently named Assistant Dean of Online Programs for the West Virginia University (WVU) College of Creative Arts and Media (CCAM).
As assistant dean, Hart supports the online master’s degree programs in Data Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing Communications, Integrated Marketing Communications, Game Design and Music Business and Industry; the online bachelor’s degree in Inegrated Marketing Communications; and graduate certificate programs in Creative Strategy, Data Marketing Communications, Digital and Social Media, Healthcare Communications, Higher Education Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications and Public Relations Leadership. She also assists with the College’s undergraduate online minors, courses and programs.
“I am dedicated to being student-centered and focused on helping students succeed both academically and professionally,” Hart said. “My goal is to ensure they have a meaningful and positive educational experience.”
In her time with CCAM, Hart has worked to ensure the online courses adhere to sound instructional design principles, meet industry demands and enhance the student learning experience. She has also facilitated collaboration between instructors, subject matter experts and instructional designers.
As assistant dean, Hart will continue to prioritize the creation of online courses that provide exceptional education with flexibility for both traditional and non-traditional students.
“Online offerings accommodate varying schedules, which is critical for students balancing education with work, family responsibilities or other commitments,” she said. “Demand for online learning has increased as more students seek convenient, customizable and technology-enhanced educational experiences. They look for options that suit their individual needs.”
Hart holds a Master of Arts in Technology Education from West Virginia University and is a graduate of Leadership West Virginia. Prior to joining CCAM, Hart spent 26 years with WVU Online.
“Cindy’s vast expertise in online learning and curriculum development was crucial to the success of the online programs that thrived in the Reed College of Media,” said Keith Jackson, dean of the College of Creative Arts and Media. “As we expand our portfolio to include the entire college, her dedication to high-quality, student-centered offerings will ensure that we remain leaders in online education. I am thrilled that she will lead our innovative efforts in making our programs accessible to an even larger audience.”
Hart assumed this new role at the end of October when her predecessor, Chad Mezera, was named Assistant Provost for WVU Online.
