The WVU School of Theatre and Dance presents their flagship dance production, “Dance Now!” Feb. 5-7 at the Canady Creative Art Center Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre. Under the artistic direction of WVU Dance Director Yoav Kaddar, the program will feature performances and choreography by students, faculty and guest artists and companies. Runion, Woolley and Riggenbach shared their process and journey from “Celebration of Dance” to “Dance Now!”

As the registrar for the Art Museum of WVU for the last eight years, Karen Louvar manages many of the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the museum running smoothly.

WVU Reed School of Media and Communications alumnus Eric Winkfield was named to PRWeek’s 40 Under 40 in 2025, an exceptional honor, especially for someone still relatively early in his career.

Experimental film artist, animator and sculptor Janelle VanderKelen will give a lecture Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 5 p.m. to accompany her exhibit on display in the Paul Mesaros Gallery at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center. After the talk, a reception will officially open VanderKelen’s exhibit, which features her films “Language Unknown” (2022), “A Valley Without Trees” (2021), “Niches” (2024) and “Vignettes” (2024).

WVU School of Music senior Greta Hulterstrum is one of six students from across the country selected to join the League of American Orchestras’ Student Leadership Council.

The Art Museum of WVU invites the community to the opening reception for the spring 2026 exhibits, “Soft/Cover” and “Material Matters,” on Friday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Beginning on Jan. 31, the museum will be open 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Admission is always free.

Mountain Stage brings Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble, Vienna Teng, Joe Crookston, William Matheny and more to the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.

“Chicago” is back in Morgantown and is still the one musical with everything that makes Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz, with one show stopping song after another and the most astonishing dancing you’ve ever seen. “Chicago” comes to the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center on Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

“Celebration of Dance” is a student-led performance, where junior and senior Dance majors can choreograph their own pieces and manage the casting and rehearsals. The performances are typically held in late October or early November in the Antoinette E. Falbo Theatre in the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center. Guest adjudicators judge and rank the student-choreographed pieces and provide input to the WVU Dance faculty, who select five to 10 to be performed as part of “Dance Now!” in February.

At Martin Hall Agency (MHA), the Reed School of Media and Communications’ student-run strategic communications firm, students closed out the fall semester with meaningful, measurable work that spanned statewide agritourism partners, West Virginia’s most promising young innovators, rural farms and downtown retailers. More than 20 students applied strategic research, creative development and hands-on client collaboration to deliver real work for real organizations, strengthening local businesses w
