The WVU School of Theatre and Dance presents “Amour,” a lighthearted musical, at the Gladys G. Davis Theatre at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center Nov. 20-21 and Dec. 3-6 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for senior citizens and $10 each for groups of ten or more. Purchases can be made online at go.wvu.edu/amour, by phone at 304-293-SHOW or in person at the box office in the lobby of the CAC, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The “NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet” international ensemble will grace the stage of the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Friends of the Art Museum of WVU traveled with museum staff to Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts, to visit world-class art museums and to see the Art Museum of WVU’s first traveling exhibition, Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist.

Printmaking students in the WVU School of Art and Design had the opportunity to work alongside Ruth Lingen and Nina Dine from Pace Prints in New York and visiting artist Gamaliel Rodriguez, whose work is currently on display in the Art Museum of WVU in the exhibit “Topographies of Memory.”

Dr. Diana Martinelli, former dean of the WVU Reed College of Media, will be inducted into the WV Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hall of Fame during the Night of Honors on Nov. 13. Professor of Public Relations Geah Pressgrove will be receiving the Educator of the Year award.

The Dance program at the WVU School of Theatre and Dance in the College of Creative Arts and Media has received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Dance.

Two recent graduates from the WVU School of Art and Design’s Art Education program were recognized in October by their state’s art education associations for excellence in teaching. Elaina DePetro (Master of Arts in Arts Education, Class of 2024) was awarded High School Art Teacher of the Year by the West Virginia Art Education Association, and Lily Buckley (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, Class of 2024) was named New Art Teacher of the Year by the N.C. Art Education Association.

When the curtains open on “Dracula, a feminist revenge fantasy, really.” on Oct. 23, audiences will see the culmination of nearly two months of hard work: the hundreds of hours spent in rehearsal, the fight and intimacy choreography, the set design and build, the vocal training, the costume design and more.

There’s a mystery brewing at the Art Museum of West Virginia University. One of its priceless works of art has gone missing, and museum staff need help finding it! The Art Museum invites community members to help unravel the mystery on Oct. 24 from 5-7 p.m.
