All School of Art and Design applicants are eligible for scholarship funding. To be considered students must submit a portfolio. Only students pursuing an Art and Design BFA or an Art Education BFA are required to submit a portfolio.
Students must have received admission to the university before submitting a portfolio.
Upon submission of a School of Art and Design application, students will receive
a link to our portfolio upload page. Students are encouraged to submit their School
of Art and Design application early and, if possible, attend a Portfolio Review
Day. Students may also elect to meet with faculty on campus for a private portfolio
review. Meeting students in person helps us to get to know you a better! Student
Portfolios must include:
All applicants are required to write a short essay describing their creative
and academic ambitions, academic and professional goals, and personal interests.
Additionally, applicants should explain why they wish to undertake university
art studies on the application.
Students pursuing certification in Art Education should include a statement
on why they wish to teach art. Statements should be approximately 300 words
in length (about one page).
Your portfolio should showcase your strongest, most original work; pieces that reflect both your technical skill and your creative vision. As you curate your selection, focus on work that communicates ideas, demonstrates curiosity, and reveals your individuality as an artist or designer.
