HD Media, LLC. is seeking a news intern to work with and learn from our award-winning team of journalists at the Charleston Gazette-Mail in Charleston, West Virginia.
Apply through the Internship AllianceThis paid internship position, which encompasses 300 total hours and is based out of our Charleston office, will provide the selected applicant with hands-on experience working in a modern newsroom for a true multimedia news organization.
Responsibilities may include covering breaking news events, repurposing news releases into usable articles suitable for publication in West Virginia's largest daily newspaper, attending public meetings for the purpose of writing daily articles on deadline, and other various tasks as assigned by an editor. Interns may also be given the opportunity to pursue investigative or enterprise reporting opportunities.
Some journalism experience is preferred, though all candidates will be considered. A passion for writing and a hunger to learn and grow are paramount. The ideal candidate should also be well organized and possess strong time-management skills.
