The Summit Bechtel Reserve is looking for a motivated Individuals that are looking for an opportunity to learn, hone their skills and build their portfolio of work while serving as interns with Scouting America. This is a great opportunity to work for a nationally recognized non-profit organization with over 100 years of history. The Summit serves a variety of guests including providing Scouting programs to over 5,000 Scouting participants this summer as well as hosting corporate retreats, weddings and other unique events.

Show Staff

The Shows Team develops and performs in opening and closing ceremonies, as well as other high-adventure program performances. You are responsible for delivering engaging, story-driven productions that enhance the guest experience. This role requires creativity, collaboration, and live performance experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, rehearsal, and delivery of ~20 shows weekly, including opening/closing ceremonies
  • Perform in a small ensemble using skits, songs, monologues, and multimedia to engage audiences of 20–60 viewers
  • Collaborate on creative development of scripts, set lists, and staging; consistently contribute fresh ideas and energy
  • Operate or assist with audio/visual equipment, lighting, and staging during performances as needed.
  • Support pre-show rehearsals, event setup, and packing of equipment and materials.
  • Work with other program areas to ensure smooth event flow and support camp-wide shows
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18+
  • Experience in theatre, music performance, and/or event production preferred
  • Musical ability (instrumental or vocal) is strongly preferred
  • Strong stage presentation skills and comfortable speaking, singing, and performing in front of groups 10-300 people
  • Scouting experience preferred
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Physical & Practical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
  • Housing: 10’x12’ platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55 hours

Event Support

Providing exceptional customer service to our guests.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and providing services for events such as meetings, banquets, weddings, concerts, etc.
  • Reading and preparing banquet spaces to event specifications prepared by leadership
  • Setting up and tearing down tables, chairs, linens, flatware, glassware, dinner and drink buffets
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and courteous manner
  • Collaborating with culinary team and other staff to ensure seamless event execution
  • Consistently adhere to dress code
  • Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
  • Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

  • Minimum age: 18+
  • Preferred: Experience in events, banquets, or food and beverage operations.
  • Preferred: Strong time management and prioritization skills and ability to work independently.
  • Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
