Valerie Canady Charitable Trust Foundation Scholarship

Dr. and Mrs. William J. Canady established The Valerie Canady Charitable Trust Foundation in memory of their daughter, Valerie, whose life was taken on December 21, 1988, when a terrorist bomb exploded on Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Applicants for The Valerie Canady Charitable Trust Foundation scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be a FULL-TIME major in Art & Design, Music, or Theatre & Dance.
    (Full -Time: Undergraduate – 12+hours / Graduate-9+hours)
  2. Must be fluent, verbally, in a second language or be actively engaged in obtaining this ability.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.
  4. Provide a complete copy of your OFFICIAL transcript, including transfer credit. Your transcript can be requested by going online to the Office of the University Registrar at: https://registrar.wvu.edu/academic-records/request-transcript (may be sent via email to Jodie.Lewis@mail.wvu.edu or mailed to Jodie Lewis; WVU College of Creative Arts & Media, PO BOX 6111)
  5. Provide three faculty letters of reference (typed, signed, and printed on School letterhead) - submit all three letters together to Jodie Lewis in the CCAC Dean's Office, Room 3107.
  6. Students receiving or continuing this award are asked to invite the members of the Board of The Valerie Canady Charitable Trust Foundation to attend an event in which they will be performing or exhibiting.
  7. Once your application has been received, your School Director will verify your eligibility.
