K-12 Opportunities

WVU offers several ways for middle school and high school students to advance their music education before their college years.

Music Student for a Day

Join us on campus for an Open House event, classroom visit or private lesson with one of our music professors. James Froemel, our recruitment specialist (and a WVU College of Creative Arts and Media alum!) can schedule your visit and help customize your experience.

Choose Your Experience

WVU hosts a variety of music experiences on the WVU campus throughout the year. You'll work with nationally-known conductors, see performances by WVU student musicians, get specialized training from our outstanding faculty and connect with fellow high school musicians in the region.

Honor Bands

The WVU Invitational High School Honor Bands is a two-day event for high school band students. In addition to working with outstanding nationally-known conductors, students are treated to a performance by the WVU Wind Symphony and also have the opportunity to participate in masterclasses offered by members of the WVU School of Music faculty.
