Celebrating its 65th anniversary, the world’s most influential name in comedy, The Second City, is coming to the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media (CCAM) October 1 at 7:30 p.m. with their new show, “Laugh Harder, Not Smarter.”

Two recent graduates from the WVU School of Art and Design’s Art Education program were recognized in October by their state’s art education associations for excellence in teaching. Elaina DePetro (Master of Arts in Arts Education, Class of 2024) was awarded High School Art Teacher of the Year by the West Virginia Art Education Association, and Lily Buckley (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, Class of 2024) was named New Art Teacher of the Year by the N.C. Art Education Association.

This year, “WVU News” and “Mountaineer Playbook” received two regional Emmys each from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Ohio Valley Chapter Student Production Awards. Winners were announced in September.

The Public Interest Communication Research Laboratory (PIC Lab), has been designated a Patriotic Employer by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) program.

When the curtains open on “Dracula, a feminist revenge fantasy, really.” on Oct. 23, audiences will see the culmination of nearly two months of hard work: the hundreds of hours spent in rehearsal, the fight and intimacy choreography, the set design and build, the vocal training, the costume design and more.

The WVU School of Theatre and Dance presents “Dracula, a feminist revenge fantasy, really.” at the Metropolitan Theatre Oct. 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Kate Hamill’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” reconceptualizes the iconic vampire tale.
