The WVU Wind Symphony recently traveled to France to perform at the Festival des Anches d’Azur thanks to the generous support of donors.

World-renowned opera baritone and WVU School of Music alumnus Michael Chioldi was recently back among the Appalachian Mountains for a run of Giuseppe Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Pittsburgh Opera. For the Avonmore, Pennsylvania, native, it was like a homecoming. Family members, friends from high school and college, WVU fans and even WVU faculty came to see him perform as the title character.

The WVU Community Music Program provides high-quality musical training to individuals of all ages and levels in Morgantown and the surrounding region. Programs range from private and group lessons to community bands and orchestras.

The WVU Symphony Orchestra invites the community to the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre on April 30 at 7:30 p.m. as it closes the spring semester with a program of varied orchestral works.

This February, WVU’s ASTA chapter saw its hard work pay off when it received “Most Improved Student Chapter” at the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American String Teachers Association Collocated Conferences in San Francisco.

Isaac Price has performed in one or more ensembles nearly every semester of his six years in the WVU School of Music and he’s been hard at work with the rest of the Wind Symphony, preparing for an upcoming concert Feb. 13.

WVU School of Music senior Greta Hulterstrum is one of six students from across the country selected to join the League of American Orchestras’ Student Leadership Council.
