The Art Museum of WVU Faculty Fellowship is an opportunity for faculty and instructors from across disciplines to enhance their teaching and scholarship by engaging with the museum’s permanent collection of more than 5,000 objects.

The Art Museum of WVU is launching its searchable collections database, putting the museum’s vast assortment of art and artifacts at users’ fingertips.

As the registrar for the Art Museum of WVU for the last eight years, Karen Louvar manages many of the behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the museum running smoothly.

The Art Museum of WVU invites the community to the opening reception for the spring 2026 exhibits, “Soft/Cover” and “Material Matters,” on Friday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Beginning on Jan. 31, the museum will be open 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Admission is always free.

Friends of the Art Museum of WVU traveled with museum staff to Boston and Provincetown, Massachusetts, to visit world-class art museums and to see the Art Museum of WVU’s first traveling exhibition, Blanche Lazzell: Becoming an American Modernist.

There’s a mystery brewing at the Art Museum of West Virginia University. One of its priceless works of art has gone missing, and museum staff need help finding it! The Art Museum invites community members to help unravel the mystery on Oct. 24 from 5-7 p.m.

This fall, the Art Museum of West Virginia University invites visitors to experience two thought-provoking exhibitions, “Evolving Visions: A Century of Women Artists Working in Abstraction,” and “Topographies of Memory” by Gamaliel Rodriguez. Both exhibitions are now open and will remain on view through Sunday, December 15.

The Art Museum of West Virginia University recently visited two regional elementary schools to share books about museums. The ongoing initiative is aimed at helping kids in rural communities learn about museums and museum careers.

The museum uses an active acquisition program of purchases and donations to acquire visual art to educate and inspire visitors.

A special new exhibit at the Art Museum of West Virginia University explores Massachusetts’ Berkshire forests through synchronized video and sound. The multi-channel film installation is the first exhibition housed in the museum’s new project space.
