Two accomplished faculty members were tapped to serve as school directors in the WVU College of Creative Arts and Media (CCAM) as of July 2025. Emily Corio is the new director of the Reed School of Media and Communications, and Michael Vercelli has been named the interim director of the School of Music.

Celebrating its 65th anniversary, the world’s most influential name in comedy, The Second City, is coming to the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media (CCAM) October 1 at 7:30 p.m. with their new show, “Laugh Harder, Not Smarter.”

The 2025-2026 University Arts Series features nationally touring performances in the intimate setting of the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre.

A former QVC host, a founding partner of a global PR firm and the art preparator for the Andy Warhol Museum were among the 17 professional mentors at the inaugural WVU College of Creative Arts and Media (CCAM) Industry Day in April.

Acoustic music composition, folklore interpretation and public interest communication were the focus of the faculty/student winners of the inaugural West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media Exhibit of Mentored Research and Creative Activity. 

The West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media is offering several summer educational opportunities for youth, teens and adult students to learn about various forms of art and media, as well as two unique opportunities for music educators.

The College of Creative Arts and Media was strongly supported by over 1,400 gifts during the 2025 West Virginia University Day of Giving.

The recipients of the inaugural WVU College of Creative Arts and Media faculty awards exemplify excellence in research, teaching and service. Awardees include Katie Jones, Joe Jones, Angela Uriyo, Joshua Swiger and Ross Justice.

Loulie Canady, a longtime friend and supporter of the West Virginia University College of Creative Arts and Media, died on March 8, 2025, at 93 years old.
