The Details

This one-day experience is designed specifically for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors enrolled in AP, honors, advanced art courses, and art and design clubs. The goal is to provide students with an immersive, welcoming introduction to WVU’s art and design programs while helping them understand what studying art and design here can actually feel like.

While WVU may be a large university, the School of Art and Design has a small teacher-to-student ratio with a cozy studio environment that supports all students. We are excited to show students and teachers around, chat with you, and make hands-on projects together. We can’t wait to give you a peak at our newer programs like  Interior Architecture, Game Design, Fashion Design and Merchandising, and Art History and Museum Professions, and reveal what our established fine arts courses have to offer in painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, and more.

The schedule is designed to accommodate school transportation and typical instructional constraints, with estimated arrival around 9 a.m. and departure between 2–3 p.m. Our registration form is to help us determine exact times and needs, based on participating schools. Light refreshments at our welcoming reception and sign in will be provided, as well as lunch. We will send a follow up email to the contact provided to our form by April 1, 2026 with a more precise schedule, but we will keep within this time frame.

We are inviting teachers, and club advisors to register an entire class or group of students at once, rather than requiring individual student sign-ups. If you are interested in bringing students, or would like more information before deciding, please contact James Froemel at jfroemel@mail.wvu.edu.
