Summer Brass Academy

This week-long brass camp is designed to help young brass musicians develop technical ability, interpretive skills, and increase their understanding of a variety of genres and musical styles through masterclasses, private practice time, and individual lessons.

The West Virginia University Summer Brass Academy will be held June 10-14, 2024.  Students will be instructed by  WVU Brass Faculty  and will gain insight into music entrepreneurship, pedagogy, wellness and self-care, and obtain experience in chamber music ensembles.  The camp will be offered in-person with a commuter option available. The Summer Brass Academy is for students completing grades 8-12 with a recommended minimum of 3 years playing experience. 

**Trumpet students with diverse musical interests and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. Instruction will highlight and celebrate the value of versatility, and help students increase their proficiency in varied musical styles.

Cost
  • In-Person Participant: $764.21

    • Tuition $425:   Pay through Eventbrite. Tuition for all attendees is due Wednesday, June 5th. 

    • Housing and Meals $339.21: Pay directly to WVU housing at check-in (cash, check, card accepted) on Monday, June 10th.

      • Double occupancy housing (Monday-Thursday nights) and all meals (Monday-Friday). 

      • Additional Items: A parking pass can be purchased for an additional $10. Linen Packet (sheets, pillow, blanket, pillowcase, bath towel, wash cloth) can be purchased for an additional $12.

  • In-Person Commuter: $425

    • No housing/meals included. Tuition for all attendees is due Wednesday, June 5th.

12 p.m. – 1  p.m.               Lunch

**The schedule on Monday, June 10th will be altered slightly to accommodate those who are traveling to attend the camp. As such, check-in on 6/10 will occur between 8-9:30 am. The first scheduled activity will begin at 10 am. 

***The camp will conclude on Friday, June 3rd with a performance at 3 pm and reception at 4 pm. Parents and/or guardians are to pick up participants at 4:30 pm in the Canady Creative Arts Center lobby ( 1 Fine Arts Dr, Morgantown, WV 26506 ) Additional information will be sent directly to camp participants on Monday, June 5th.
