Bluegrass Band

The WVU Bluegrass Band brings the heart of Appalachian music to life, blending traditional and contemporary bluegrass while giving students the skills and experience to perform, lead, and innovate.

The WVU Bluegrass Band is your gateway to the rich, soulful sounds of Appalachian music, where tradition meets innovation. Students explore both classic and contemporary bluegrass styles, performing lively, high-energy music that celebrates tight harmonies, intricate instrumentals, and the storytelling heart of the genre. This ensemble isn’t just about playing music—it’s about feeling it, sharing it, and connecting with an audience through every note.

Joining the Bluegrass Band means developing real musical skills while being part of a close-knit community of passionate performers. Students enhance their vocals, sharpen instrumental technique, and take on leadership roles within the band, all while collaborating in an environment that encourages creativity and experimentation. Whether you’re strumming, picking, or singing, this ensemble offers the chance to grow as a musician and performer—and to bring Appalachian music to life in exciting, unforgettable ways.
