Session Band

The Session Band gives students hands-on experience in a professional studio environment, working closely with songwriters and artists to record, produce, and bring music to life.

The Session Band at WVU offers students a front-row seat to the fast-paced, professional world of music production. Modeled on Nashville-style studio environments, students collaborate directly with songwriters and artists, helping to shape their songs from initial ideas to polished recordings. This ensemble provides a hands-on experience in tracking, arranging, and producing music, giving students the skills and confidence to thrive in real-world studio settings.

Beyond the technical side, the Session Band is about creativity, teamwork, and adaptability. Students learn to respond quickly to musical challenges, bring ideas to life in the moment, and communicate effectively with performers and producers. Whether you’re an instrumentalist, vocalist, or aspiring producer, this ensemble immerses you in the artistry and energy of professional music-making—preparing you for a career in today’s dynamic recording industry.
