Bassoon Studio

The Bassoon Studio at West Virginia University is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students who seek to engage, inspire, and empower others through study and performance of music on the bassoon. Through collaboration and mentorship with Professor Andy Sledge, bassoon students at WVU develop the necessary skills to realize and pursue their musical and professional goals.

Life in the WVU Bassoon Studio

Each bassoon student at WVU receives weekly lessons with Prof. Sledge, participates in Bassoon Studio Class and Reed Class, and performs with the WVU Bassoon Ensemble and Double Reed Ensemble.

Bassoon students also contribute to WVU’s vibrant musical life, performing in large ensembles such as the Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, and Symphony Orchestra, as well as chamber music ensembles from duos to wind serenades.

Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships are available. The Graduate Assistant in Bassoon serves as a leader within the studio and performs with the Graduate Wind Quintet.
