West Virginia University’s Art and Environment: Ireland is a six-credit, two-week summer course based on Ireland’s stunning west coast.
This immersive course takes place at the renowned Burren College of Art, an independent art school located along the Wild Atlantic Way in County Clare. Students will delve into the extraordinary natural beauty and rich ecosystem of the Burren region, along with the cultural, historical, and spiritual significance of this unique landscape.
Highlights include a day and night on the remote Aran Islands, visits to the vibrant harbor city of Galway, and excursions to surrounding sites. Students in this upper-level, six-credit studio art course (with a graduate section available) will have access to dedicated studio spaces, a printing press, darkroom, photographic studio, digital lab, 3D lab, library, and more. The program is open to all School of Art and Design studio majors and minors and fulfills the three-credit Global Positioning Studies (GPS) requirement for School of Art and Design majors. Course dates are July 12 – 26, 2025.
