West Virginia University’s Art and Environment: Ireland course is a three-credit, two-week long summer semester course that takes place on the beautiful and rugged west coast of Ireland.
The home base for the course is the internationally recognized, Burren College of Art, a small independent art school situated on the Wild Atlantic Way on the northwest coast of County Clare in Ireland. The course will explore the incredible natural beauty and unique ecosystem of the Burren region along with the important cultural, historical, and spiritual significance of the landscape. In addition, students will spend a day and night exploring the mystical and remote Aran Islands, visit the lively harbor city of Galway and a variety of neighboring locations. The course is open to all School of Art and Design studio majors and minors. Students will have dedicated studio spaces and access to a printing press, darkroom, photographic studio, digital lab, 3D lab, library and more.
