The WVU College of Creative Arts and Media offers artistic merit scholarships to students in the School of Art & Design BFA Art & Design, BFA Art Education, BA Art Therapy and BA Art History and Museum Professions degrees.
These scholarships range from $500 up to the cost of university tuition and are granted based on academic record and artistic merit as determined by the WVU School of Art & Design Scholarship Committee.
Art History and Museum Professions majors need only submit a writing sample with their online application. All other art majors must submit the online application and exhibit a portfolio in-person for jury review.
Students enrolled in the BA Game Design and Interactive Media, BS Interior Architecture, BS Fashion Design and Merchandising and BS Design Studies majors are not eligible for artistic merit scholarships but are eligible for the Innovators Scholarship with a GPA of a 3.8 or higher. The Innovators Scholarships is awarded through financial aid and provides $1,000 for in-state students and $2,000 for out-of-state students.

Jury Process for BFA Art & Design, Art Education, and Art Therapy
Students must submit the online application form and exhibit a portfolio for jury by the School of Art & Design faculty to be considered for scholarships for the following academic year.
Each student will be assigned a space in the art studios to exhibit a select group of 2D and/or 3D work from their portfolio that best represents their accomplishments, along with a printed artist statement that discusses their work regarding their goals as an art major at WVU. Students who need to submit digital work to be displayed for scholarship consideration in addition to their 2D and 3D work will be encouraged to do so through the online application form.
